14TH SACCO ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

The Uganda Prisons Service held its 14th Annual General Meeting on the 23February 2022 at the Prisons Academy and Training School (PATS) under the theme: Adhering to the Cooperative Principles to Achieve more”.

This year’s AGM was the first physical meeting of delegates after the world wide effects of Covid-19 pandemic which affected every aspect of life and distorting the SACCO calendar of doing business. Covid-19 notwithstanding the SACCO registered the following achievements in 2020 and 2021:

i.             

Increase in membership by 9.8% from 10,257 (2020) to 11,308 (2021)

ii.            

Increase in shares by 8% from 4,232,420,000 (2020) to 4,571,070,000 (2021)

iii.          

loans increase by 31% from 5,149,276,000 (2020) to 5,658,330,700 (2021)

iv.          

Income /Revenue increased by 4.2% from 1,306,659,542 (2020) to 1,361,088,856 (2021)

v.            

Increase in asset value

The Commissioner General of Prisons, was represented by the Assistant Commissioner General of Prisons, Samuel Akena who witnessed and presided over the elections of the new SACCO Board members for a two-year tenure.
