The Chief Justice, Bart Katureebe yesterday 15 April, 2019 commissioned the Video Conferencing Technology system linking Buganda Road Chief magistrates court to the newly instituted virtual courts at Upper Maximum prison and Luzira Women prison.
The Director General of the Ethiopian Federal Prisons, Mr Jemal Kabaso led a five man delegation on a bench mark of the Uganda Prisons Services from the 5th - 11th May, 2019.
The areas bench marked on were;
i. Training school programmes and curriculum development.
The 23rd Prisons Council meeting is being held at the silver Springs hotel Bugolobi. New members to the council are expected to be sworn into office.
The Permanent secretary, Ministry of Internal Affairs Dr Benon Mutambi Mugisha on Monday 10 December, 2018 commissioned Uganda Government Prison Farm Orom-Tikau in Kitgum district.
This was during his tour of Prison stations in Northern Uganda,Acholi sub-region he visited Gulu Main, Gulu women, Lugore prison farm and Orom-Tikau farm.
Court of Appeal’s Justice Geoffrey Kiryabwire, chair of the Judiciary’s Technology Committee, yesterday Wednesday 10th April, 2019 led a team of senior staff of the Judiciary, NITA-Uganda and Uganda Prisons Service on an inspection tour of the newly installed and completed Audio-Video Conferencing System between Buganda Road Chief Magistrates' Court, through the National Data Centre and Upper Maximum Security Prison - Luzira.
The Uganda Prisons Service on Wednesday 3 April 2019 broke ground on the construction of the Prisons staff referral hospital at Luzira. The new facility will replace the current staff clinic which has been a major attraction delivering health services to staff, their families and communities of Nakawa Division and beyond.
The Commissioner General of Prisons, Can. Dr. Johnson Byabashaija today afternoon flagged off the Prisons Netball team travelling to Zanzibar, Tanzania for the East and Central Africa Netball Club Championships slated to start on 23 March, 2019.
The Team presented the Commissioner General with the National Netball League trophy retained from last season.
The Commissioner General encouraged them to work hard during the tournament since they are the defending champions and carry the flag of Uganda high.
The Minister of Internal Affairs Gen. Jeje Odongo Abubaker and State Minister Hon. Mario Obiga Kania were on Wednesday 5/12/2018 taken on a guided tour of the construction works taking place at Kitalya Mini - Maximum prison and staff quarters by the Commissioner General of Prisons, Can. Dr. Johnson Byabashaija.
The Minister was acompanied by Officials from the Internal Affairs and senior officers from Prisons headquarters.
1. Mrs. Sarah Kyazze Nalwanga, Assistant Commissioner, Community Corrections, Central Region is transferred to Prisons Headquarters for duty.
2. Mrs. Nuru Nsambu Mbalyowere, Principal Rehabilitation and Reintegration Officer, (PRRO) Kampala Extra Region is transferred to Central Region for duty.
3. Mr. David Moses Okiring, PRRO, U.G. Prison Upper is transferred to Kampala Extra Region/PATS for duty
