1. Mr. John Bosco Tumwebaze, CP, Commandant, Prisons Academy and Training School is appointed Regional Prisons Commander, Kampala Extra Region. He takes over from Mr. Wilson Magomu, CP, who is the Commissioner, Prisons Industries and Head of Counter Terrorism, Prisons Headquarters.
Stanbic Bank Uganda has offered sponsorship to Maroons FC to a tune of 50,000,000 shillings. This was disclosed at a meeting with the Club Patron, the Commissioner General of Prisons, Can.Dr. Johnson Byabashaija at the Prisons Headquarters where a cheque worth 35,000,000 shillings was delivered.
The Uganda Prisons Service has received support from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to provide comprehensive HIV/AIDS, STI and TB services to prisoners and staff of the Prisons Service. The project that spans the period 1st April, 2015 to 31stMarch, 2020 is being implemented by the Department of Prisons Health Services.

Two prisons yesterday escaped from Masaka Chief Magistrates Court where they had been arraigned on Murder charges.They are Galiwango Musa and Kidawaliime Muhammed.A Reward awaits their recapture.
The Minister of Internal Affairs, General Jeje Odongo last week 19 - 23 February, 2018 toured the prisons’ of Fortportal, Ibuga, Ruimi and Mubuku in western Uganda. The Minister was accompanied by the Minister of State Internal Affairs, Hon. Obiga Kania, Permanent Secretary Internal Affairs, Dr. Ben Mutambi, Permanent Secretary Ministry of Public Service, Mrs Catherine B. Musingwiire, Members of the Prisons Authority and Prisons Top Management.

At the exigency of the service, the following transfers take immediate effect.
His Excellency the President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, today passed out 919 prisons officers at the Prisons Academy and Training School grounds Luzira.These included 706 awardees and wardresses and 213 non commissioned officers on refresher course.
