THE 32 COMMISSION ON CRIME PREVENTION AND CRIMINAL JUSTICE
The Commissioner General of Prisons, Can. Dr. Johnson Byabashaija made a presentation on the remarkable achievements in implementing the transformative Nelson Mandela Rules in Uganda Prisons Service at the 32 Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ) annual regular session being held in Vienna, Austria from the 22 – 26th May 2023.
He informed the session of importance of the Nelson Mandela Rules for those in custody and how the Uganda Prisons Service has adapted it in the staff training curriculum at all levels in the Prisons Staff College and Training School.
The Uganda Justice Sector Delegation was led by Lady Justice, Jane Adobo, Director Public Prosecution and included the Chief Registrar Judiciary, Sarah Langa Siu, JLOS Senior Technical Advisor, Rachel Odoi Musoke, Assistant Inspector General of Police, Research Planning and Development, James Ochaya and Commissioner of Prisons, Planning and Policy, Aggrey Aturwaniirire.
