The Commissioner General of Prisons, Can Dr. Johnson Byabashaija on Friday 3^rd March, 2023 travelled on a working tour to ascertain progress of the construction of 4,000 MT Grain Silo capacity with grain drying and processing system at UG. Prisons Farm-Lugore in Gulu District.

The Silo will be targeting to serve the greater Northern Region in grain processing and activities involved in the post-harvest value addition chain.

The establishment of such value addition facilities with in targeted Prison Farms will improve Agricultural Productivity and tackle challenges related to post harvest handling and storage that has hindered production in the past.

Another Modern Silo is under construction in Western Uganda at UG. Prisons Farm - Ruima to cater for the region.

With a vision of Uganda moving towards the middle-income status, Uganda Prisons Service under the strategic leadership of the Commissioner General of Prisons has contributed to poverty reduction, food security and improved nutrition driving in the path of economic growth by transforming the Agricultural sector in Uganda.
