PRISONS BACK TO BACK WINNERS AT THE 30TH NATIONAL AGRICULTURAL SHOW.
For the second year running, Uganda Prisons Service has emerged victorious at the National Agricultural Show, winning the coveted "Best Exhibitors Award" for its outstanding innovation and creativity in various categories.
This latest win extends the service's dominance at the show for the past two decades. The National Agricultural Show, organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries in partnership with the Uganda National Farmers Federation
, brings together stakeholders in the agricultural sector to showcase their products in various fields.
The service was recognized for its excellence in Livestock Productivity, Crop Production and Management, Agricultural Trainings and Extension, Furniture, Art, Craft, and Textiles Production. The Deputy Prime Minister of Uganda Hon. Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga, who presided over the awarding ceremony, praised Uganda Prisons Service for its consistency in production and agricultural development in the country. The service also received awards for Best in Livestock Productivity and Management and Best in Art, Innovation, and Craft Works.
Ms. Prossy Geraldine Najuma, Ag. Senior Commissioner of Prisons (Industries) who represented the Commissioner General of Prisons at the award ceremony, emphasized that this success is just the beginning, saying, "We're not resting on our laurels. We aim to add more trophies in the future." She also highlighted Uganda Prisons Service's reputation for professionalism among government institutions, noting that this achievement rete their commitment to upholding the highest standards. Ms. Najuma concluded by encouraging the team to continue working together to achieve even greater success, saying, "Thank you again, and let's continue to strive for excellence."
Ms. Najumaaddressed the Prisons Officers during a luncheon after their triumph at the National Agricultural Show, expressing gratitude and pride in their achievement. "Your hard work has earned us three major trophies, and we are honored to lead such a committed team," Ms. Najuma said. "I extend my thanks to the Department of Prisons Industries, Farms, ICT, Corporate Affairs, Product Promotion and Distribution, and Regional Prisons Command - South Eastern for their collaboration and efforts."
