JUBILATION IN UGANDA PRISONS NATIONWIDE AS INMATES EXCEL IN PLE
Inmates across Uganda Prisons are reveling in their academic achievements as the results for the 2023 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) were released by the Uganda National Examination Board. 90% of the incarcerated candidates successfully qualified for Ordinary Level Education, marking a momentous triumph for prison education programs.
At Upper Prison Inmate School, two candidates achieved Division I, 32 secured Division II, 15 attained Division III, and 6 embraced Division IV. The highest scorer garnered an impressive aggregate of 10, closely followed by outstanding performances with aggregates of 12 and 13, among others. A total of 69 candidates were registered for the examinations.
Similarly, Mbarara Prison Inmate School saw seven candidates attain Division I, 22 excel in Division II, and 5 and 4 candidates respectively in Divisions III and IV. The school had a total of 40 registered candidates who defied the odds to make their mark in the academic realm.
Soroti Prison had 1 candidate achieving Division I and 8 candidates securing Division III. Nakasongola Prison also contributed to the nationwide celebration with 1 candidate clinching Division I, 4 achieving Division II, and 2 and 1 candidates respectively in Divisions III and IV.
Mr. Gilbert Nuwamanya, the Head Teacher of Upper Prison Inmates Schools, expressed commendation for the PLE candidates, applauding their discipline, commitment, and hard work throughout the year 2023. He expressed optimism that these achievements would serve as a foundation for even greater success as the candidates progress to the next level of their education.
