UGANDA PRISONS SERVICE INSPECTS NEW HEADQUARTERS, EXPRESSES SATISFACTION WITH CONSTRUCTION PROGRESS.

A delegation from Uganda Prisons Service (UPS) top and senior management team, led by the Deputy Commissioner General of Prisons Samuel Akena visited the Naguru JLOS house to assess the progress of the new UPS headquarters construction.

 

The team included heads of directorates and departments. The visit aimed to evaluate the project's completion timeline, inspect the allotted space, and discuss customization of UPS needs, costs associated with shared utilities and services, and other concerns.

UGANDA PRISONS SERVICE SERVICE BOOSTED WITH ESSENTIAL RESOURCES

On Wednesday June, 12 2024, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) has strengthened its partnership with the Uganda Prisons Service, enhancing crime prevention and criminal justice in the country. At a ceremony held at the Prisons Academy and Training School (PATS), UNODC handed over essential books and forms to support the prisons service.

TRAINING OF TRAINERS BY UPS &UNODC

UGANDA PRISONS SERVICE (UPS), IN COLLABORATION WITH THE UNITED NATIONS OFFICE OF DRUGS AND CRIME (UNODC) AND THE EUROPEAN UNION (EU), HAS SUCCESSFULLY CONCLUDED A COMPREHENSIVE TRAINING OF TRAINERS (TOT) COURSE AIMED AT ENHANCING THE MANAGEMENT OF VIOLENT EXTREMIST PRISONERS (VEPS) AND PREVENTING RADICALISATION WITHIN THE PRISON SYSTEM.
